About the Recipe

When it comes to Halloween treats, nothing quite captures the spooky spirit like worms and dirt pudding cups. These ghoulish delights are not only delicious but a fun and creative way to add a touch of fright to your Halloween entertaining.

Worms and dirt pudding cups were a staple in my childhood home. Only my mom didn't put them in individual cups, she put it in a large baking dish. Why? Because at the start she was feeding thirty-something kindergarteners. As we got older, that never changed; our friends liked being able to pass by, get a scoop in a bowl and keep going.

Now, I'm obviously no longer a kindergartener (sometimes lol), I usually pre-make mine into individual cups because it's prettier and more convenient for me.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg chocolate creme cookies

  • 1 tub frozen whipped topping, thawed

  • 2 pkg (5.6 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix

  • 1 pkg gummy worms

  • 12-14 - 6 oz plastic cups

Preparation

  1. Make up both pudding mixes according to the pack, placing each into separate containers. In one of the batches stir in the whipped topping. Place in the fridge to fully set.

  2. Crush the chocolate creme cookies into small chunks with a heavy object (meat mallet, rolling pin, ect), and a gallon plastic bag or a food processor; you do not want them to be fine crumbs.

  3. This is great to make the day before a party and let it sit to let the larger crumbles soften. You can also make this in a trifle dish, casserole dish or a disposable 9X9 pan. To make each cup: layer cookie crumbles, regular pudding, cookie crumbles, gummy worms, whipped topping pudding, topping with more gummies and cookie crumbles.
