The kitschy craft club is the brainchild born from a love of learning, a lack of things to do in my community, and a want to collect every skill that I can. I started as a food blogger and home-made business owner and I found my niche in the vintage reproduction and cottage core space.
Now, I’m on a mission to collect, resurrect, and share as many unique, dying and dead crafts, arts and skills as I can. My goal is to create a place both online and hopefully in person where people can go to connect with history, learn skills and get creative without gates.
The name “Kitschy Craft Club” comes from my love of all things wacky and granny-like. Whether that is a good old porch goose or a room full of porcelain dolls staring into your soul. I have an appreciation for it all. By definition kitsch is something knowingly done in poor taste; but I’m not one for connotation. I think that is the entire point. Just because something might be “in poor taste” doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done or archived. That’s how we lose history over time.
So, what can you expect from the Kitschy Craft Club?
Honestly, I don’t know yet. I have a non-exhaustive list of skills, crafts and arts that I want to share. I want this to be a community effort whether you have knowledge to share or a craft you want to learn or hone: Let me know! Even recipes! If you have a recipe you want to share, send it.
